Squirt White snares Auburn tourney title

 

 

 

The Action Auto/Ernzco Painting Squirt White youth hockey team won all four of its games over the weekend to claim the championship of the Auburn Squirt Tournament.
Tucker Gabriel scored twice and Aidan Farron once in Saturday’s opener, a 3-1 win over Thousand Islands in which goalie Andrew Kristof made nine saves. Padraic Andrews led the way in Saturday’s second game, an 8-1 win over Midstate in which T.J. Serkiz and Reid Villnave scored twice each and Aidan Villnave had a goal and an assist while Kristof stopped 11 shots.
Gabriel had a goal and an assist and Farron the other goal in a 2-1 win over Auburn in Sunday’s first game, Kristof with nine more saves as the winners had a 29-10 shot advantage. Kristof then stopped six shots in a 6-0 championship game win over Auburn in which his team rolled up a 42-6 shot advantage. Christopher Yang had two goals, Andrews a goal and an assist and Gabriel, Rowen Dankert and Declan Vail one goal each.
— The Little Ceasar’s/H&H Financial Group Squirt Red team clinched the Snowbelt Red Division regular-season league title with a 6-1 win over visiting Skaneateles Saturday. Andrew Partigianoni led the way with four goals and an assist, while Ben McGrath and Gabby Cranfield had a goal and an assist apiece and goalie Garret Clark made 15 saves.
BANTAM
Trevor Jubran scored twice to lead the way Saturday in the Gutchess Lumber squad’s 5-1 win over visiting Skaneateles. Adam Jubran had a goal and an assist while Sammy Robbins and Caleb Erno scored once each and goalie Brandon Ludwig made 24 saves.
Cargen had a goal and an assist and Adam Jubran on goal in an 11-2 loss to visiting Ithaca on Sunday, Ludwig with 21 saves. Cargen scored twice while Robbins and Michael Jewett each scored once in a 4-3 win at Camillus later on Sunday. Ludwig stopped 12 shots.
PEE WEE
Abigail Villnave had a goal and an assist while Broc Sherwood and Dakota Ayer had one goal each and Adam Howser stopped 19 shots in goal as Cortland fell to Camillus 6-3 despite 40-25 shot advantage. Zack Welsh stopped 37 shots for the winners.
MITE
The Darl Zehr Photography/O’Connor & Kruman/Pontillo’s Pizzeria and Restaurant White team went 2-2 over the weekend at the Auburn Mitefest Tournament.
Delaney Ayer, Brady Coffin and Bodie McGrath scored goals and goalie Gabe O’Connor made 18 saves in a 5-3 loss to Midstate Saturday in the opener. Ayer, Coffin, Gabe O’Connor, Liam O’Connor, Cooper Swartz and Jayden Tinker scored and goalie Naris Constantino made eight saves later Saturday in a 13-4 win over Perinton.
The Cortland squad fell to Geneva 15-5 in Sunday’s first game, McGrath and Liam O’Connor the scorers while Gabe O’Connor made 18 saves. A 15-2 win over Skaneateles closed things out as Andrews, Ayer, Coffin, McGrath, Liam O’Connor, Tinker and Tyler Franzese scored and Constantino made seven saves.
