Area boys’ teams all score victories

The McGraw boys’ basketball team completed its regular season Thursday night with a 61-32 non-league win over George Junior Republic.
In other non-league boys’ games, Cincinnatus finished its regular season with a 53-45 victory over visiting Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton and DeRuyter won its third game in a row, 65-43 over host Morrisville-Eaton.
The DeRuyter girls lost to visiting Madison 56-35 in a non-league contest.
BOYS
McGraw 61, George Junior 32: Jordan Cowen led the way for the Eagles (16-2) with 17 points while Aidan Dittmann added 14 points, including a dunk, and Justin Shorts had 12.
The winners led 15-7 after one quarter and blew the game open with a 19-8 second-quarter advantage to take a 34-15 halftime lead.
Cincinnatus 53, G-MU 45: Collin McKee’s 21 points and nine rebounds and Cody Beckwith’s 15 points keyed the win for the Red Lions, now 8-9. Josh Enders added 11 points while Dalton Sudbrink pulled down eight rebounds.
The winners led 20-19 at halftime and got some breathing room with a 14-8 third-quarter edge, McKee scoring eight points in the stanza. Nate O’Hara led G-MU with 16 points.
DeRuyter 65, Morrisville-Eaton 35: Zach Wheeler’s 18 points and 17 from Josh Phelps helped the Rockets (5-13) extend their winning steak heading into tonight’s season finale at Madison.
Chris Thomas chipped in with 10 points while John Hollifield led the Warriors with nine points.
GIRLS
Madison 56, DeRuyter 35: Lexi Tubbs scored a game-high 24 points to lead the visiting Blue Devils to victory. The Rockets (5-11), who were led by Samantha Gordon and Andrea Chapman with six points each, trailed by just one point, 7-6, after one quarter before being outscored 38-13 over the next two periods.
