Squirts get crowned Snowbelt champions

 

 

 

The Little Ceasar’s/H&H Financial Group Squirt Red youth hockey team beat host Thousand Islands 1-0 Sunday to win the Snowbelt League playoff championship in Clayton.
Ben McGrath scored the only goal of the game with under four minutes left off an assist from Andrew Partigianoni while goalie Garret Clark stopped 21 shots for the shutout.
The Cortland squad opened the tournament on Friday with a 3-2 win over Thousand Islands as McGrath scored all three goals and Clark stopped 27 shots. Clark made 17 saves in a 7-0 shutout win over Midstate Saturday morning. Partigianoni scored five goals and Braden Marsh had the other two.
McGrath and Hunter Everle scored twice each while Marsh and Partigianoni scored one goal each in a 6-1 win over Binghamton Saturday afternoon, Clark with 11 saves.
Other team members are Jonathon Gregory, Gabby Cranfield, Lucas Farris, Reagan Hillman, Ryan Spalding and Logan Swartz. The team is coached by Dan Partigianoni and Tom Cranfield.
PEE WEE
The Computing Center team was a 12-9 winner over a team consisting of players’ families (mostly parents) on Sunday. Dakota Ayer and Abigail Villnave scored three goals each for the winners while Broc Sherwood and Matt Meagley scored twice each. Faith Derksen and Delaney Ayer each had a goal and goalie Riley Delage stopped 12 shots.
Kevin Ayer scored four goals for the Family squad while Kyle Howser collected three goals. Betsy Popoli and Sean Meagley each added one goal and goalie Jodie Delage stopped 10 shots.
