Youth hockey: Squirts grab two tourney victories

BUFFALO — The Little Ceasar’s/H&H Financial Group Squirt Red team won two out of three games in the Buffalo Pepsi Tournament over the weekend to conclude its season.
The Cortland squad opened with a 2-1 loss to eventual champion Monroe County on Saturday, Ben McGrath with the only goal and goalie Garret Clark with nine assists as Cortland had a 26-11 shot advantage.
Andrew Partigianoni had three goals and two assists and Hunter Everle three goals and an assist Sunday in a 10-1 win over Strathroy, Ont. Gabby Cranfield had two goals and three assists, McGrath a goal and two assists and Braden Marsh one goal while Clark turned aside eight shots, the winners with 31 shots to Strathroy’s nine.
Later on Sunday, Cortland beat Hampton Roads, Va. 6-1 as McGrath scored three goals, Marsh two goals and Partigianoni a goal and two assists. Clark turned aside 10 shots, his teammates again with a large advantage in shots, this time by 25-11.
